Family Law

Changes in family can be both legally and personally complex. We are prepared to assist clients in navigating their families through divorce, child custody, child support, paternity and legitimation, and modification of prior orders.

Divorce

We recognize the stress and difficultly a divorce can cause. Whether you are filing for divorce or receiving papers from your spouse, the events surrounding divorce are emotional and challenging. We are here to provide compassionate, knowledgeable counsel in the midst of a difficult season. We are prepared to advise you of your rights, help you set accurate expectations for the process, and prepare you for unexpected hurdles. It’s our priority to be available to you when it matters most.

Child Custody

Custody battles can be complex and challenging. When parents are involved in litigation to determine who will have legal and physical custody of a child, it’s important to have an attorney to come alongside and help navigate the process. We have a firm grasp on each and every factor the law permits the court to consider in a custody determination, so we can successfully advocate for the best possible family outcome — no matter how difficult the case may be.

Child Support

Every parent has their own unique needs with respect to child support and its financial implications. We are well-versed in the rights of the child, while also remaining sensitive to the real-life effects of child support on our clients. We have the necessary skills to negotiate a fair child support obligation, so that through a combined financial effort, parents are able to provide
for the child’s needs.

Paternity & Legitimation

Legitimation opens up entirely new legal pathways for father-child relationships. When a father is not married to the mother of his child, he has no legal rights to that child until he obtains an order of legitimation from the court. The legitimation process is the necessary gateway to reunify the father and child, and to establish legal rights — including the right to be a custodial
parent, to be involved in the child’s life, and to make important decisions regarding the child’s upbringing.

We believe fathers have a very special role in the lives of their children. Even though current laws are not favorable to fathers of children born out of wedlock, we specialize in representing fathers in paternity and legitimation actions, often gaining full custody for deserving fathers.

Modification

The aim of domestic law is to create a solution all parties can live under without the need for modification. However, changes happen, and the needs of the child and parents shift. When circumstances change, one parent may ask the court to modify a prior order. We are here for you in times of change, and we can help you determine if you qualify to file for a modification.
